Vajra or Dorje
Meaning: Enlightenment, Weapon, Reality, Creativity, Potency
In the tantric traditions of both Buddhism and Hinduism, the Vajra or Dorje is a symbol for the nature of reality, or “sunyata”, indicating endless creativity, potency, and skillful activity. According to Buddhist mythology, the Vajra destroys all kinds of ignorance and is itself indestructible.
The Vajra symbolizes the striking and irresistible force that leads to an abrupt transformation in human consciousness resulting in the attainment of enlightenment. Thus, it is essentially representative of the powerful, indestructible, indomitable, impenetrable, immutable, enduring and eternal state of enlightenment.
