Kannon Bosatsu

Kannon Bosatsu aka Kuan Yin and sometimes simply referred to as Kannon is the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion and is normally depicted with a dragon. There are dipictions of her standing atop a dragon with two children and two warriors. Typically, the warriors are there to protect the faith and or temple. She is mostly depicted alone. The earliest representations of Kannon Bosatsu were with masculine features, later with both masculine and feminine and eventually became a symbol of the divine feminine and mother.

In Asia Kannon Bosatsu is reveared across religious lines. Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, followers of Shinto and even Christians worship her as the Maria Kannon.

Kuan Yin (Guanyin) is believed to be the most widely loved Buddhist Divinity. It is believed that she has the powers to assist all who pray to her. It is believed that she can relieve suffering and to grant children. She is the personification of compassion and kindness.

She is normally depicted wearing a white robe, holding and jar of pure water in her left hand and a willow branch in her right hand.
