Turtles are one of the four cardinal beasts and represent: Water, North, Black and Winter

Turtles are revered in Japan and Japanese culture. They are known for their longevity and are often pictured with cranes and other symbols representing the same.

Minogame are turtles that are said to live at least 1000 years and some up to 10,000 and have a long, hairy tail. This is a representation of turtles which are real and have seaweed and algae that have grown on their shells.

Both the kame and minogame have similar meanings attached to them.
